Jethro, I’ll die if you don’t fuck me this very minute.” I’ve never needed anything as much as you filling me. It’s writing like this that had me rolling my eyes and groaning out loud (and not in a good way). Obviously, I didn’t care for the story, but the writing style put me off as well. There are remaining puzzles that might appeal to other readers though. And the big plot twisting cliffhanger? Yeah, I totally predicted that while reading the first book also. Like I couldn’t see that coming from a mile away as noted in my previous review.

Despite his despicable, abusive, and often just weird behavior, I think we’re supposed to feel sorry for him for developing feelings for his captive. We get to see more glimpses into Jethro’s thoughts, which is nice, but it’s not enough to redeem him. She completely depleted my stores of patience and understanding. Nila proves she’s strong all right, but she’s still gullible, wishy washy, and really quite dim. I may have liked this book a little more than the first, but basically First Debt did little to change my opinion of this series. Oh, and it was the audio book version so…bonus!Īnyway, I was hoping this book would surprise me, and I admit I was a little curious to see how and when Nila grows a backbone. I figured I had nothing to lose except maybe some of my precious reading time, because…free.

I gave a rather scathing review of Debt Inheritance, so why on Earth did I read First Debt? Apparently I’m a glutton for punishment because I decided to give this book a chance when I saw it was available at the library. He hasn’t leashed her but he thinks he might’ve found a way to bind her forever. His inheritance gift tests, challenges, and surprises him-and not in good ways. She belongs to Jethro as much as she denies it. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over six hundred years ago, she has no way out.

You sign not only the debt agreement, but another-one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. If I win-you willingly give me that right. Published by Self-Published on November 12th 2014 First Debt (Indebted, #2) by Pepper Winters
